The new Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures are ready for action and adventure right out of the box. No Glue. No Paint. Just crack open a box and start playing D&D.

The first expansion, Harbinger, releases in September, giving you access to 80 different characters, villains, and monsters taken straight out of the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual.

The minis will be randomized, fully assembled, pre-painted, collectable plastic miniatures complete with double-sided stat cards (one side for use with the D&D roleplaying game, the other for fast, head-to-head miniatures combat). You can pick up your D&D minis in two different types of box: Entry Packs and Expansion Packs.

Here's what you'll find when you rip open an Entry Pack (for just $19.95):

16 randomized miniatures (1 rare, 5 uncommon, and 10 common) with double-sided stat cards
Complete Basic rulebook for head-to-head miniatures combat
20-sided die
Checklist for the Harbinger set
Terrain mapsheet and terrain cards that create unique situations for every encounter

When you tear open an Expansion Pack (for only $9.99), you'll get a heaping handful of minis to add to your collection and D&D campaign:

8 randomized miniatures (1 rare, 3 uncommon, and 4 common) with double-sided stat cards

Regardless of which box you're opening, you'll end up with some of the best accessories you can add to your D&D game.

First, there's no grace period between the time you buy the minis and when they actually make it into your D&D game, because they're already assembled, primed, and painted.

Second, because it's an instant collection of gaming accessories referenced right inside your D&D rulebooks. (The Dragoneye expansion, for example, will draw heavily from the Draconomicon and other D&D rulebooks to help you fulfill all of your dragon and dragonkind needs. Look for it in early January of 2004.)
