D&D 30th Anniversary Comes to a Close

On October 26, 2004 in New York City, a group of people gathered to discuss the launch of 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. Dave Arneson, Ben Kweller, Peter Adkison, Steve Winter, and Ed Stark -- all contributors to the book -- were on hand to talk to various media representatives and to enjoy the evening.

Since the event and over the course of the next few months, readers of Newsweek, Time, Entertainment Weekly, and a host of other paper and online magazines will have enjoy reading about the 30th anniversary of D&D. Wizards' presence at Gen Con SoCal will provide a fitting cap on the festivities.

But while D&D's 30th anniversary is coming to a close, the game itself is picking up steam. Thanks to the media attention drawn by this event and Worldwide D&D Game Day, over 68 million print and online readers have learned that D&D isn't just a trip down memory lane, but a full-blown cultural icon.
