My visual inspirations for these characters came from a few sources. The modern "Goth" look, for the leather, straps, piercings, and little tchotchkes. I looked at headdresses and costumes from other cultures for some of the characters than are definitely not "Goth." I really like the industrial "steampunk" look, so I put some of that in the characters as well. Anyone with that heightened mental ability should not look completely normal. To have that type of power must mess with their heads. Just look what happened to poor Tetsuo in Akira!
