Dispel Confusion Vol. 1, No. 3
September 2005

If you have specific questions regarding the Living Greyhawk campaign, please post your questions on the official Living Greyhawk message board forum, located on the Wizards community boards.

All other questions regarding Dungeons & Dragons or the RPGA should be submitted though our customer service Knowledge Base, where you can reach our staff, or your question may already be answered online.

All references to the three Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks refer to the version 3.5.

Much of the information in this FAQ will be added to the next version of the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook. This particular Dispel Confusion focuses on rules updates to the campaign. As always, all such updates are effective immediately from the date of this document’s publication.

Clarifications

Q: One of the feats, spells, or prestige classes one of my characters possess was recently restricted. I know I have to remove it from my character, but how do I go about replacing it?

A: In most cases, replacement of a restricted rules item is pretty easy. For feats and spells, simply choose another currently accessible feat or spell (anything in the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook marked “core,” or any other non-restricted rules item that you have access to via campaign documentation). For magic items, you are able to sell a restricted item back for full price; you can then use that money to purchase other items you have access to for that character. For prestige classes, it’s a little more complicated. Usually, guidelines are presented to help a character through the process of removing restricted prestige class levels. Items that are restricted from the campaign appear in Dispel Confusion articles, or in future versions of the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook. In every case, you may only make the proscribed changes necessary to the character to replace the rules item. If there’s a change that’s more complex than simply replacing one rules item with another, special instructions are provided.

Errata

Q: I played the high-level portion of the special event CORS5-03 Secrets of Tsojcanth at Gen Con Indy. I heard there was a mistake on the adventure record. Is this so?

A: Yes. The specific spells listed on that adventure record were a copy of the mid-level’s spells. If you played the high-level portion of the Living Greyhawk special at this year’s Gen Con Indy, the Gnome Vale gemstone should read the following after its description:

Blue gemstone: greater invisibility 1/day; green gemstone: haste 1/day; yellow gemstone: protection from energy 1/day.

If you play this adventure at any of the extended premiere sites, the adventure record will have the correct information listed, and you do not make any alterations. Only players of the high-level portion at Gen Con Indy need to note this change. For the gemstone you had imbued, write its spell directly on your adventure record, in the Play Notes section.

Q: I noticed that the mask of Johydee prestige class (presented in Dragon #302) is listed in the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook as “updated to v.3.5”, but no specific mention is made of the changes. Are there any changes to the prestige class?

A: Yes, but they are very minor. The mask of Johydee loses the Innuendo and Read Lips skills (as they do not exist in version 3.5), and gains the Sense Motive skill as a class skill. In addition, reference to the spell change self should instead read, disguise self.

Q: The Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook lists Dungeons & Dragons Campaigns Cards through the first Mark of Heroes set. What cards are allowed in the Living Greyhawk campaign from the most recent sets?

A: Here is a listing of the cards allowed in the Living Greyhawk campaign from Mark of Heroes sets 2, 3, 4, and promos (this is in addition to all cards currently allowed in the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook):

  • Feign Surprise (set 2, card 4 of 10)
  • Surprise Set (set 2, card 5 of 10)
  • Triumph of Hoof and Fletching (set 2, card 7 of 10)
  • Dol Arrah’s Sacrifice (set 3, card 2 of 10)
  • Swift Response (set 3, card 6 of 10)
  • Spry Approach (set 4, card 2 of 10)
  • Right Scroll for the Job (set 4, card 5 of 10) – you must use this scroll immediately after playing this card, or it reverts back to its original spell
  • Fast Talker (set 4, card 6 of 10)
  • Missed Me (set 4, card 8 of 10)
  • Bane of My Enemies (promo card 7)

Q: I noticed that Staggering Strike used to be on the list above. What happened to it?

A: The Staggering Strike Dungeons & Dragons Campaign Card is no longer usable in the Living Greyhawk campaign.
