Dispel Confusion Vol. 2, No. 2
March 2006

If you have specific questions regarding the Living Greyhawk campaign, please post your questions on the official Living Greyhawk message board forum, located on the Wizards community boards.

All other questions regarding Dungeons & Dragons or the RPGA should be submitted though our customer service Knowledge Base, where you can reach our staff, or your question may already be answered online.

All references to the three Dungeons & Dragons core rulebooks refer to the version 3.5.

Much of the information in this FAQ will be added to the next version of the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook. This particular Dispel Confusion discusses the polymorph errata and clears up some core-special adventure record questions. As always, all such updates are effective immediately from the date of this document’s publication.

Clarifications

Q: I received an adventure record for the adventure CORS5-03 Secrets of Tsojcanth (Low-Level), and I gained access to the benefit called Touch of the Celestial. Can I choose to apply this benefit to a familiar I began play with in the Blight on Bright Sands campaign arc?

A: Yes, you may add horned lizard (from Sandstorm) to the list of familiars that can be affected by this benefit.

Q: In the most recent printing of the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook, I found that nightsticks (from Libris Mortis) are now restricted. How much gold do I get back if I have one?

A: Any character that possesses nightsticks receives the exact amount back that was paid to obtain them. So, if they were purchased at full market value, you’d receive 7,500 gp; if they were created using the Magic Item Creation Rules, you’d receive 3,750 gp. Any other expenditures (time units or experience points) made while creating nightsticks are not refunded.

Errata

Q: Recently, there was a substantial amount of errata issued regarding the polymorph family of spells, and abilities that let characters change form. How is the Living Greyhawk campaign handling this?

A: Unlike other pieces of official errata, the Living Greyhawk campaign will not be adopting any of the changes that came about from the polymorph errata update. Listed below are the books used in the campaign, and the pieces of errata that are not adopted for Living Greyhawk play. Note that all other official errata is used, unless an exception (such as this one) is noted.

  • Player’s Handbook: Wild shape (pg. 37), a thousand faces (pg. 37), animal shapes (pg. 198), and baleful polymorph (pg. 203).
  • Monster Manual: Alternate form (pg. 305), change shape (pgs. 306-307), all monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange.
  • Monster Manual II: All monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange (this also includes the teratomorph’s “transformation” entry errata). The only exceptions are avolakia and grimalkin (both of these monsters had errata issued in the D&D v.3.5 Accessory Update).
  • Fiend Folio: All monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange.
  • Monster Manual III: Change shape (pg. 209), and golems (all) errata that references removal of polymorph any object from the list of spells required to create a golem (pg. 67).
  • Manual of the Planes: All monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange.
  • Book of Exalted Deeds: All monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange.
  • Frostburn: All monsters’ errata that specifically mentions change shape, alternate form, alter self, polymorph, polymorph any object, or shapechange.

Additional Errata on CORS6-01 The Hanging Glacier

Remove the Frozen Wildshape feat from the low-level, high-level, and New Beginnings adventure records. If you have already picked this feat, you may re-allocate it.

On the low-level, high-level, and “New Beginnings” adventure records, add the feat Snowcasting (Frostburn) to the Knowledge of the Schnai benefit.

On the “New Beginnings” adventure record, add the following line to the very end of the New Beginnings benefit:

“Please contact the Circle for more information before using this benefit.”
